Before you have an embassy, UN, or Marco Polo, It operates as before. The opponents list includes all possible techs except those you already have. No information is freely given. After embassy, UN, Marco Polo or signing an alliance, the lists are culled. Your tech list shows only what you have that he needs. His list shows only what he has that you need. * GoTo now works as in the original Civilization II. This involved a hard coded "2" in the original Civilization II that needed to be sizeof(int). * Human parleys should not get blocked anymore. * Clearer/Corrected instructions for Dial-Up Networking (modem-modem and direct connect play) ******************************************************************************** ------------------------------------------------------------- SETUP PROCEDURE FOR DIRECT CONNECT MULTIPLAYER GAMES ------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLING Direct Cable Connection Adding the Direct Cable Connection component 1. Open the control panel 2. Select Add/Remove Programs 3. Go under the Windows Setup tab 4. In the list of installed Windows components, select the Communications option 5. While the Communications option is selected, press the Details button 6. Enable the Direct Cable Connection option You may have to insert Windows disks at this point. Setup the network protocol 1. Click on START. 2. Choose Control Panel. 3. Choose Network. 4. Under Configuration, be sure you have TCP/IP protocol active. If you do not: choose ADD, then PROTOCOL, MICROSOFT, TCP/IP. AFTER Direct Cable Connection IS INSTALLED One of the two computers is the Direct Cable Connection Host, and one is the Guest. The Host: 1. Click on START. 2. Choose Programs. 3. Choose Accessories. 4. Choose Direct Cable Connection. Direct Cable Connection may be in Communication, or on the Accessories list. 5. Direct Cable Connection box will open asking if this computer is host or guest. Choose Host. 6. Then answer the rest of the questions. 7. The host is now setup. The Client: 1. Click on START. 2. Choose Programs. 3. Choose Accessories. 4. Choose Direct Cable Connection. Direct Cable Connection may be in Communication, or on the Accessories list. 5. Direct Cable Connection box will open asking if this computer is host or guest. Choose Guest. 6. Then answer the rest of the questions. 7. The guest is now setup. ***Notes*** After you have connected to another computer, you can start a TCP/IP-based network game. 1. Start CIV2 Multiplayer Gold. 2. Choose multiplayer game. 3.
